Bantamviktsmästarinnan Holly Holm kommer för första gången försvara sitt bälte när hon möter Miesha Tate under UFC 196 i mars, och om hon då segrar kommer man börja planera för en retur mot den före detta mästarinnan Ronda Rousey.
UFC:s VD Dana White tror att en retur mellan de två kan komma att bli den absolut största matchen i organisationens historia.
Det här berättade White i en intervju med ”ESPN”:
If Holly Holm were to win (at UFC 196), the Holly-Ronda rematch is the biggest fight ever in UFC history, if that rematch happens.
Man planerade tidigare för en direkt retur, men eftersom Rousey just nu behöver återhämta sig ville Holm gå en match istället för att sitta och vänta på att den forne mästarinnan kommer tillbaka.
Holm blev då matchad mot Tate, som vid två tidigare tillfällen mött Rousey och förlorat båda gångerna. White tror dock att Tate har en chans att ta hem bältet när hon möter Holm.
Stylistically this is a very, very tough fight because you know how styles make fights. Ronda went in with Holly Holm and tried to box with a boxer, whereas Ronda’s game should have been going in there and using her judo. Well, Miesha Tate will go for low singles, double legs. She will try to wrestle Holly Holm. She’s durable, she’s got a great chin and stylistically this is a very tough matchup.
Holly doesn’t get overlooked at all. She beat the unbeatable. She went in and pushed the impossible. Believe me, she is receiving all the accolades and the financial rewards that go along with a huge accomplishment like that.
