Eddie Alvarez och Bellator har inte varit de bästa utav vänner, och det var inte lång tid sedan det ryktades om att Eddie äntligen skulle få ta sig över till UFC för att möta Donald ”Cowboy” Cerrone. Nu meddelar Bellators VD Scott Coker att Alvarez kontrakt med organisationen diskuteras, och att Eddies öde avgörs nu på fredag.

Eddie is a great kid. I sat down with him and basically he told me all of the challenges he had with the past regime. And I totally got it. He is a great kid, great fighter and he definitely has a bad taste in his mouth on a lot of different levels. When he told me what happened, I told him, ’I don’t blame you, I totally understand.’
Where it’s at today is, you know, Eddie is still a fighter under contract with Bellator. I know that lawyers are involved and that is something that happened way before I came in. So, right now, I don’t have an update for you.
At the end of the day, a guy like Eddie, if he comes here, that’s great. But on the other hand, if we have to rely on one athlete to make or break a company, we’re not going to focus on that either. I wish I had more to discuss about Eddie, but when lawyers are involved, you get two lawyers in a room, it just takes a lot of time to get stuff done.
I think there are a lot of things at play because he knows we’re intelligent property. It’s not just one persons decision, it’s going to be a collective decision. Like I said, I wish I had an answer for you. There are other people involved and at this point lawyers are talking to lawyers and that’s where it’s at.
Alvarez har vunnit tio av sina elva senaste matcher inne i buren, och sist besegrade han Michael Chandler via ett delat domslut under Bellator 106.
