Den forne mästaren i lätt tungvikt, Mauricio Shogun Rua, är ännu inte helt redo att gå ner till mellanvikt som det tidigare ryktats om att han skulle göra, då han väger ca 89 kg. Det är dock inte något som hindrar honom från att försöka gå matcher.
Shogun Ruas manager Eduardo Alonso föreslog därför Micahel Bisping som möjlig motståndare i ”catch weight”.
Det här berättade han, via ”MMAMania”:
If I could choose, I’d love to see him fighting Michael Bisping. I suggested some names to the UFC, and I would like it to be at 195 pounds, like Wanderlei Silva and Vitor Belfort did before dropping down. It would be a good way to test the weight cut, to see if he would perform better, how he would deal with the process, and if that would give him a new motivation.
Bisping fick höra talas om ryktet och gick ut med sitt svar på Twitter:

Innan de två kan mötas måste dock Rua filma klart för programmet ”The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil” och Bisping möta CB Dollaway under UFC 186 i april. Vi får se vad som händer efter det.
