Pat Barry tänker inte gå i pension

Det har inom MMA blivit vanligt att prata om att fighters ska gå i pension när de har varit med i sporten under en längre tid. Många äldre fighters får även meddelanden från fans där de blir ombedda att ge upp och lägga handskarna på hyllan.

Pat Barry är en utav de som fått höra många saker från fans och i en nyligen gjord intervju berättar han tycker om råden som han har fått.

Det här berättar Barry, via ”BloodyElbow”:

People tell you, ‘Come on man, you’ve got to stop´. What do you care? Don’t you want to see people get bludgeoned out there? Don’t you want to see people get high-kicked unconscious? Isn’t that what you’re watching these highlights and stuff for? And yeah, they do want to see that. So why do you suddenly care about me now?

That’s the commitment we made the first day we walked in the gym. Everyone who makes that commitment, decides they want to pursue this, they know that this means imminent, abrupt danger right now, but it also means that maybe when I’m 70 the Cheick Kongo punch comes back to haunt me. Am I aware of that? Yes. Do I worry about it? No.
