Ferguson är säker på att han kommer att gå segranade ur matchen mot obesegrade Khabib Nurmagomedov när de möter varandra om interimbältet i lättvikt under UFC 209 i mars. När han gjort detta, kommer han att börja jaga lättviktsmästaren Conor McGregor. Ferguson står just nu med 8 raka vinster i UFC och Khabib står obesegrad med 24-0. Han är dock inte så säker på att irländaren kommer att vilja försvara sitt bälte.
McGregor har under sin karriär varit innehavare av fyra bälten i Cage Warriors och UFC, men har aldrig gått ett enda titelförsvar. Ferguson tror inte att att detta är någonting som kommer att förändras och kritiserar irländarens planer på att möta boxaren Floyd Mayweather.
