John Danaher är en Brazilian Jiu Jitsu-tränare som har fått sitt svartbälte under Renzo Gracie, han lär även ut till sina elever på ’Renzo Gracie Academy’ i New York. Danaher är erkänd inom MMA-scenen för sina BJJ-kunskaper och även känd för sitt eget ’crew’ han kallar för ’Danaher Death Squad’, där ingår exempelvis den forne mellan- och welterviktsmästaren, Georges St-Pierre, Garry Tonon, Gordon Ryan och Eddie Cummings.
Danaher gästade Joe Rogans podcast, ’The Joe Rogan Expierience’, där han gav sin syn på vad som skulle hända om Conor McGregor ställdes mot Khabib Nurmagomedov. Enligt Danaher finns det bara två sätt den matchen kan sluta på.
It’s either like a man [Khabib] beating up a child on the ground, or it’s just a flush knockout [from McGregor]. The guy unable to cover distance properly and walking into a left hand and just being catastrophically KO’d. There’s potential for it to go on both directions, (but) that’s a fight I don’t think goes the distance. It’s one way or the other.
If there’s one weakness that Khabib has, it’s not being as strong dominating the setups to get to those areas where he can dominate the pace. If he’s going to lose a fight, it’s going to be in that area. And Conor, more than anything else, is a guy who dominates the setups. The kicks are probes; he’s not trying to hurt you with a kick. He’s probing. He hurts you with this [the left hand].
Nurmagomedov ryktas först att möta interimmästaren, Tony Ferguson, i april. Enligt den ryska sportjournalisten Adam Zubayraev som skriver för ’Sport-express.ru, menar att matchen är så gott som klar.
