Nyligen stod det klart att Kamaru Usman är UFCs nya welterviktsmästare då han lyckades besegra Tyron Woodley under UFC 235. Sedan dess har det sett ut som att hans första titelförsvar kommer att ske mot Colby Covington. Innan matchen kan äga rum har dock Usman meddelat att han behöver återhämta sig från en operation han genomgick strax efter matchen mot Woodley.
Någon som däremot inte tror att Usman faktiskt gick igenom en operation är Covington som i en intervju med BJPenn.com berättade att han tror att det är “Fake News”.
First off, let’s start off. Do you really fucking believe he had to get surgery and he needs all this fucking time? This is the same tactics Tyron Woodley did. ‘Oh, my shoulder. Oh, I could fight Nate Diaz. I could fight a GSP. I’ll fight anybody, but I can’t fight Colby. I need time. I need to be healthy.’ He’s doing the same shit. He is asking for guys that aren’t even ranked in the fucking top 10. He’s asking for money fights, but he’ll fight anybody else except me. Except, if he’s fighting me he needs this long training camp and this and that. Dude, he’s fucking fake news. That’s why he’s Marty Fake Newsman. He never got surgery. That’s the spoiler. I’m the king of spoilers. Spoiler alert. Kamaru Usman did not get surgery. It’s a fake injury. A fake excuse. He’s just trying to delay the inevitable. He knows what’s coming. He knows what’s in front of him now.
Covington pratade i samma intervju även om hur han anser att Usman gått från att hela tiden prata om Covington till att nu inte nämna honom alls.
Before, he was willing to fucking fight me. He would say anything to attach his name to me. ‘Oh Blah, blah, blah. Oh, keep that energy up. I black out when I see Colby, I want to kill him, I want to punch his face. I want to punch a hole in his face, blah, blah, blah.’ Now, he’s fucking nowhere to be found. Now, he’s right in front of me and he’s got nothing to say anymore. He’s fucking trying to make up all these excuses. So, it’s completely fake news. You can’t believe anything that comes out of that guy’s mouth. It’s just a matter of time until I fucking end his career.
I nuläget är inte en match mellan Usman och Covington officiellt inbokad men enligt ägaren till American Top Team, vilket är där Covington tränar, är en match klar och påskriven mellan Covington och Usman.
