A win over Dustin Poirier puts me as the guy with the best resume in the top-5 after the Gaethje-Khabib fight happens. I’ll definitely have the best resume, ‘cause then it would be Poirier coming off a couple of losses, Tony coming off a tough loss, Conor retired or his last fight he beat the No. 12 ranked guy in the division.
Poiriers stil passar honom

I’m confident the way my style matches up with Dustin Poirier’s style. I’m confident in the plan that my coaches have come up with, and that is being put into action. I definitely am confident. I know what to expect from Dustin Poirier. He obviously poses a lot of risks; he’s a great boxer, very durable, and has a lot of main event experience. So he’s someone that needs to be respected, but he’s definitely someone that I feel I can get the better of.
McGregor är en smart man
Hooker kommenterade även den tidigare dubbelmästaren Conor McGregors val att pensionera sig från sporten. Enligt Hooker är det ett smart val då han nu kan välja matcher mer fritt och jämför det med den tidigare världsmästaren i boxning, Floyd Mayweather.
He’s a very smart man. I think it’s pretty obvious what playbook he’s copying. He’s copying the Mayweather playbook, and the Mayweather playbook kind of led to Mayweather making a lot of money and having a lot of longevity in the sport, which is important to a fighter. A fighter who goes out there at that level, and pushes himself against the best in the world for five five-minute rounds, every single fight, back-to-back-back, is definitely putting a cap on his career. You know, what Mayweather did was very smart, where he could pick and choose when he wanted to fight, when he felt motivated, when his body was injury-free and he was at 100 percent, and that led him to getting a lot of success. And that led to Conor coming back, picking the right time, picking the right opponent in Cowboy, and it leads to performances like that. So there’s definitely a bit of method to his madness.

I’m definitely ready for him as an opponent. Pushing all of the other stuff to the side, from what I see from his fighting ability he’s still an incredibly talented fighter, and I would love to test my skills against him. I obviously would back myself skill-for-skill in the contest. But it would be very interesting — you could speculate as much as you wanted with everything that comes with fighting Conor McGregor — but I feel like I’m definitely prepared for this. I’ve come this far. There’s nothing stopping me from continuing that rise.
