Dana White påstår att Tom Aspinall inte gjort sig förtjänt av en match mot Jon Jones ännu.

Under UFC 304 såg vi det unika i att ett interimbälte försvaras. Detta när Aspinall avslutade Curtis Blaydes i första ronden av deras returmöte. En vinst som fortsatte 31-åringens imponerande statistik av att ha avslutat alla sina vinster. Enda sedan sin vinst mot Sergei Pavlovich tidigare i år har Tom bett om en match mot viktklassens ’riktiga’ mästare Jon Jones. Något som Jones själv inte visat något större intresse för.
Under en intervju med Kevin Iole förklarar även UFC’s VD, Dana White, att han inte är övertygad om ett möte mellan britten och ”Bones”. Han menar att Aspinall inte gjort sig förtjänt av den matchen ännu.
What he did to Curtis Blaydes, the way he did and how fast he did it, there’s no doubt. This guy is a scary dude. He looks like the future of the heavyweight division right? But at the same time, he’s working his way up. He’s climbing up the ladder. Everybody’s like ‘He deserves this, he deserves that’, no.
White anser att Tom fortfarande ’jobbar sig upp’.

”Han förtjänar ingenting”
Han fortsätter med att klargöra sin motivation för Stipe Miocic vs. Jon Jones och varför den går före den unge utmanarens chans på bältet.
He doesn’t deserve anything. He looks great, and he looks like he’s going to be the guy. But Stipe [Miocic] and Jon [Jones] have paid their dues, they’ve been here forever and fought everybody… These guys deserve to fight each other. Whoever wins that fight, they owe it to Aspinall to fight him and give him the opportunity that they’ve been given.
Efter ovan nämnda vinst mot Blaydes tog Aspinall tillfället i akt och bad återigen om matchen mot Jones. Något vi inte verkar få se på ett bra tag.
