När UFC:s Elias Theodorou fick sparken från UFC så var det många som blev upprörda. En fighter som inte verkar vara så upprörd är Eryk Anders. Theodorou och Anders möttes i december förra året under UFC 231 och Elias Theodorou gick då segrande ur mötet.
Efter matchen mot Anders så ställdes Theodorou mot amerikanen Derek Brunson under UFC Fight Night 151. Matchen var en märklig historia och Theodorou var ganska avvaktande och fick således gå hem med en förlust i bagaget. Spekulationerna var många varför han fick sparken efter matchen men Anders tycks tro sig ha en aning om varför.
I en intervju med BJPenn.com så berättar Anders att han tror Theodorous fightingstil är boven i dramat och att det resulterade i att han blev släppt av organisationen.
“They booed him when we fought”
“They booed him when we fought. I come to finish fights, that is what people like. At the end of the day, the UFC is a business. If you are getting booed and people don’t care to see you fight, they don’t have a reason to keep you.
“He’s a good fighter, though. He has that tough style, went 8-3 in the promotion, TUF winner. He had a great career in the UFC and will have a great career whenever he lands should he continue to fight. I just don’t think the UFC is interested in his style and antics.”
“I don’t think I have been booed in any country. All my fights have been entertaining and they have a reason to keep me around. If you sell tickets they have a reason to keep you. If people boo you and they don’t want to see you fight, you are going to get cut at the earliest time they can.”
Anders går sin nästa match på UFC on ESPN 3 den 29 juni, då han möter Vinicius Moreira.
