Jon “Bones” Jones (26-1, 1 NC) efterlängtade flytt upp till tungvikt kan komma att dröja ännu längre.
Efter Jones och UFC-tungviktaren Francis Ngannou utbytt meddelanden i flera dagar valde lätt-tungviktsmästaren Jones att igår meddela att förhandlingarna med UFC om matchen strandat då organisationen inte ville höja sitt bud för att göra matchen verklighet.
Inom en timme sade Jones att han diskuterade matchen med UFC för att sedan gå ut med att diskussionen var över:

Jones verkade på riktigt intresserad av att möta Ngannou i tungvikt efter att den kamerunfödde knockoutartisten avslutat sina fyra senaste motståndare i första ronden. Ngannou knockade senast Jairzinho Rozenstruik efter endast 20 sekunder vid UFC 249.
Även om han verkade redo att boka in matchen sade Jones sedan att han ogillade det han hörde från UFC när det kom till det ekonomiska. Han hintade även om att det kunde dröja ett tag innan han är tillbaka i UFC:

Med tanke på att UFC fortfarande håller på att boka in sitt schema för i sommar där flera galor kommer behöva en stor huvudmatch är det ändå möjligt att herrarna skulle kunna få bättre erbjudanden av UFC.
Jones ser dock nu ut att vara inställd på att försvara sin lätta tungviktstitel igen efter att senast besegrat Dominick Reyes via enhälligt domslut i februari.

Vill möta polacken Blachowicz
Efter ett par timmar valde Jones sedan att gå ut med att han är besviken över hur UFC inte såg värdet i en match mellan honom och Ngannou. Jones valde även att namnge sin nästa utmanare om han själv får välja; Jan Blachowicz:

Jones har hittills försvarat bältet tre gånger i rad sedan han återtog det mot Alexander “The Mauler” Gustafsson i slutet av 2018.
