UFC-welterviktaren Jorge Masvidal (35-14) säger att han inte haft några diskussioner med UFC om en match mot Conor McGregor (22-6). Han tror dock att irländaren redan duckat honom då han inte tror att denne vågar möta honom.

Masvidal hävdade i The MMA Hour att irländaren inte har svarat på UFC:s förfrågningar om en match mot ’BMF’-mästaren:
That guy doesn’t answer the UFC’s phone calls when my name gets dropped in his mail box. I don’t want to drop executives in the UFC’s names, but if you ask certain members of the UFC’s staff, they’ll be like, ‘Conor’s not fighting any more, under no circumstance.’
McGregor närmar sig en avklarad återhämtning efter att ha varit frånvarande under en lång tid på grund av ett brutet ben. Han skapade i dagarna rubriker efter att ha varit i ett ordkrig med Masvidal.
En potentiell match mellan herrarna skulle kunna bli en stormatch då de är två av de mest lukrativa fighters inom MMA. Problemet enligt Masvidal är dock att McGregor redan satt upp ett antal barriärer för förhindra att matchen blir av:
When they offer him the contract, he says stupid f****** things that can’t happen. He wants me to go down to 155 [pounds]. For starters, I’m not going to go down for 155 for this c*********. You’ve fought at 170 [pounds] — why am I going to go down to 155? I haven’t been in that weight class for over five, six years. I can’t physically make it any more.
So he wants to put things that are just not real, and he wants to talk s***. And yeah, I’ll entertain his s***-talking from time to time when I get bored, but we both know he’s not fighting anybody. [UFC President] Dana White called it a long-ass time ago: I’m too much man for him, too much size, as Dana says, and it stuck with him. But at the same time, he can’t do nothing about it, because he knows when we get in there, we’re both striking it up, and I’m going to crack his ass.
Masvidal pekar också på att han avslutade Nate Diaz som McGregor hade det något kämpigare mot under två matcher år 2016 och att irländaren med rätta är rädd för honom (Masvidal):
I mean, everyone saw how his fights with Nate [Diaz] went. Then you see my fight with Nate. I touched Nate, and I made Nate dance and f****** drop to the floor and grab his stomach and pray to God. Conor knows, I’ve got power, and I’m not going to get tired throwing blows.
Skulle vilja möta McGregor i New York
Masvidal fick dock inte nöjet att avsluta sin senaste motståndare ärkefienden Colby Covington. Efter detta påstås Masvidal ha attackerat Covington i ett bakhåll utanför en restaurang vilket lett till ett åtal och fightern kommer nu att behöva infinna sig i rätten där han riskerar fängelsestraff för misshandel.
Masvidal skulle vilja återvända till UFC denna höst om organisationen håller en gala i Madison Square Garden i New York. Först måste dock hans juridiska problem lösas. Han skulle dock utan tvekan tänka sig att möta McGregor i comebacken:
Definitely, it’s one of the fights that makes the most sense, money-wise. It’s got to be a money fight. Another fight that makes a lot of sense for me is Gilbert [Burns]. I like the way he fights; I like the way he competes. He comes to give it all, and the way that he called me out was amazing. ‘Hey, let’s fight. Let’s find out who the baddest motherf***** is and beat each other up.’ Once I get all healed up, I’m looking to fight one of these guys.
Fucking Conor’s a shitload of money. Gilbert, he doesn’t sell like that. Not to diss somebody, but he’s not a box-office draw. I want to fight ‘Durinho’ because I like the fighter that he is.
Respekterar McGregor som fighter men inte som människa
Även om Masvidal respekterar fightern McGregor så hyser han dock inte samma respekt för irländaren som person utanför buren:
As a competitor, he ain’t bad. But as a person, I can’t stand this rat bitch. Give you an example. Khabib wins the belt, what does Conor do? Go and talk s*** about him. Somebody at 205 will go and win a belt, he’ll go and talk shit. Like, he just wants to stay relevant. Obviously, I’m still a hot topic while his bitch-a** is just on his couch, fucking sniffing coke or whatever the f*** he’s doing, and he wants to stay relevant, so he takes shots.
But he’s not going to fight. UFC’s offered him this fight. As me and you both know, this could be the biggest fight in UFC history. Why wouldn’t he want to cash in on that paycheck? Because he knows I’m going to beat the f*** out of him, and I’m not a wrestler, so if I beat him, it really looks bad for his brand, because I’m going to beat him only one way, fucking in his face, standing up, punching him, knocking his a** out. It’s not going to be good for the Conor brand or his cheap-a** whiskey. So the little bitch has to do what he has to do and take to Twitter and talk shit.
