Nu har visserligen UFC:s president Dana White nyligen bekräftat via TMZ Sports att Conor McGregor kommer att fråntas sitt bälte, men om White av någon anledning skulle ändra sig (det har hänt förut) så skulle Khabib Nurmagomedovs manager Ali Abdelaziz inte se några problem med situationen.
Förra månaden gick UFC ut och klargjorde vad som egentligen stod på spel i huvudmatchen på UFC 223 mellan Tony Ferguson och Khabib Nurmagomedov: Den obestridda lättviktstiteln.
Det låter ju klart och tydligt om det inte vore för en liten detalj: UFC:s lättviktsdivision har redan en obestridd mästare, och han heter Conor McGregor. Så när Dana White, vid samma tillfälle, säger att McGregor inte kommer att bli fråntagen sitt bälte blir saker och ting lite mer komplicerade.
Nurmagomedov har sedan dess bekräftat att matchen mot Ferguson är om den obestridda lättviktstiteln. Och hans manager Ali Abdelaziz upprepade nyligen, i en intervju med MMAjunkie Radio, att det påståendet är 100 % sant och förklarade sedan hur de slutligen förlikat sig med upplägget. Khabib is going to be 30-0, with no belt? This is why, regardless, if Tony got hurt or Khabib got hurt, it’s a belt on the line. It doesn’t matter.

Med tanke på att tre bokade matcher mellan Ferguson och Nurmagomedov tidigare tvingats ställas in är oron definitivt befogad. Skulle matchen dock gå av stapeln som planerat, på UFC 223 den 7:e april i Brooklyn, så skulle det vara huvudmatchen för PPV:n. Och även om Ferguson skulle var den som har ett bälte med sig in i oktagonen anser Abdelaziz att det inte är något snack om att Nurmagomedov är den stora stjärnan av de två.
