Khamzat Chimaevs (11-0) coach Andreas Michael berättar om framtidsvisionerna och när han hoppas att Khamzat är tillbaka i buren igen.

Direkt efter matchen mot Gilbert Burns (20-5) delade coach Andreas Michael med sig av sina tankar om matchen. Redan då var han frustrerad och betonade att Khamzat gjorde matchen mycket tuffare än den behövde vara. På The MMA Hour berättade han att bristen på erfarenhet var orsaken till matchbilden.
Of course I didn’t like the way he wanted to knock the guy out and show everybody ’look I’m just going to walk through this guy as well’. We had a game plan, to keep it simple.
Of course he needs a lot of experience. And the experience is what he was lacking that evening. And that’s what he got, the hard way.
Vill möta Colby Covington härnäst
Efter vinsten klev Khamzat upp till plats tre, med endast Colby och Leon Edwards (19-3, 1NC) framför sig förutom Usman på toppen. Andreas tycker att Leon förtjänar titelmatchen och ställer in siktet på Covington.
I would like to see him fight Colby. He’s the next step up and we just keep going. We should fight the best, if we’re not good enough to be there, then we shouldn’t be there. It doesn’t get easier, it just get tougher. And if we can’t handle these guys that Usman’s beaten, then we’re going to have a problem. He can handle them, he will handle them and he will win.
I hope [Colby takes the fight]. God bless them all, they’re all doing the best to make money, win and feed their families. So I hope we take steps forward. People are talking about other fights but for me I’m not interested in any other fight.
Vill se Khamzat gå match efter sommaren
Efter kriget mot Burns vill Andreas nu att Khamzat tar några månader för att återhämta sig. Han hoppas på match efter sommaren men huruvida Khamzat lyssnar på sin coach eller vill tillbaka tidigare får vi se.
Fights like these take a little while for the body to recover. So I would like him to fight in September or October, some time around there.
