Efter att flera parter kritiserat UFCs löner till utövare menar nu Luke Rockhold att ingen vågar göra någonting av saken.
Luke Rockhold: Ingen vågar göra någonting åt lönerna
Nyligen stod det klart att den tidigare mellanviktsmästaren Luke Rockhold (16-5) är på väg tillbaka till UFCs oktagon och att han då kommer att ställas mot Sean Strickland (24-3). Sist vi kunde se Rockhold i oktagonen var under 2019 och sedan dess har kritiken av hur UFC betalar ut löner till sina utövare växt, någonting som Rockhold inte tror kommer att åtgärdas då ingen vågar göra någonting som faktiskt kommer att få UFC att betala bättre.
Ingen vågar göra det som krävs
Under ett avsnitt av “The MMA Hour” fick Rockhold en fråga om han tror att UFC kommer att lyssna på kritiken och börja betala bättre löner inom en snar framtid. Rockhold tror inte att så kommer att bli fallet då ingen i UFC vågar göra någonting som faktiskt kommer att göra skillnad.
No one has enough balls. No one has enough cajones. That’s the problem. Not enough to make a difference. There’s very few people that have the fucking balls, but to get the right amount of people together to do that thing, it would never happen. Not in any foreseeable future. The UFC gives out enough to make everyone come back for more. You know what I mean? And then someone fucking sparks up a conversation and they get shelved until they run out of money and they want to come back, and they have to do what they have to do, and they have to take the paycheck they have to take. This is the game they play.
Francis Ngannou hade kunnat göra skillnad
Någonting som nyligen hade kunnat göra skillnad tror Rockhold var när Francis Ngannou (16-3) kritiserade UFC. Hade han då backats av mästarna i weltervikt och mellanvikt, Kamaru Usman (19-1) och Israel Adesanya (21-1) så tror Rockhold att UFC hade lyssnat.
If they’re going to do that to Francis and then no one else speaks up, his two brothers aren’t going to get behind him and sack up and be the men they should’ve been when he got shelved, you’ve got two Nigerian brothers, they’re champions, they should’ve just stood by him and been men, and maybe that could change the landscape. But that’s about it. I saw an opportunity there. That’s when I saw an opportunity. Other than that, you need 25 guys. 25 guys aren’t coming together. Maybe more, I don’t know, maybe less. Maybe give or take. That shit ain’t going to happen. That was the only thing that I saw that actually could’ve leveled the playing field and changed things for the better. When you fuck with Francis and you’ve got this three amigos Nigerian brotherhood, if those two would’ve stood up, they could’ve fucked. They could’ve fucked deep and hard. But the two didn’t step up.
”Kevin Holland är naiv”
Rockhold fick även en fråga om fighters som står på andra sidan av kritiken och försvarar UFCs modell. Rockhold nämnde då Kevin Holland (21-7) som en fighter som försvarat UFCs affärsmodell och han nämnde då att han sagt till Holland att han bör ändra sitt synsätt.
I DM’d Kevin Holland the moment I heard that bullshit he said. I was like, ‘What the fuck are you talking about, kid? Come on.’ Yeah, you lose a couple more fights and you’re going to be on the other side of that fucking argument. He’s naive. He’s a good kid but he’s naive.
Kritiserar Venum-dealen
Rockhold passade även på att kritisera den deal med företaget Venum som UFC gjort, vilket kom att ta över för den deal företaget tidigare hade med Reebok.
You know what sucks? Is wearing a fucking snake on my goddamn fucking thing. Who the fuck wants a snake on the UFC uniforms? Do you the NBA or the fucking MLB, they’ve got a fucking snake on their outfit? What the fuck is this shit? That pisses me off. I don’t want to wear a snake on my outfit. Basketball players got a basketball player. Baseball players got a baseball player. And then look at what we got — a fucking snake.
Rockhold kommer att ställas mot Strickland på UFC 268 som äger rum den 6:e november i New York City, USA.
