Michael Bisping (30-9) och Luke Rockhold (16-6) har haft sina dispyter, men nu väljer Bisping att hylla sin forna rival.

Michael Bisping och Luke Rockhold var rivaler i UFC och två av de fighters som genuint inte tyckte om varandra. Efter Bisping gick i pension verkar de ha grävt ned stridsyxan och de har till och med tränat tillsammans. Efter förlusten mot Paulo Costa (14-2) på UFC 278 valde även Rockhold att också hänga upp sina MMA-handskar. På sin Youtubekanal önskar Bisping sin gamla rival lycka till i pensionen. Han fortsätter också med att säga att Luke under sin karriär aldrig fått den respekt han förtjänar.

“I know we had some back and forths over the years, but it was just competitive. Just rivals, sporting rivals. I’m sure if we met under different circumstances — in fact, I always said this — I’m sure we’d get along. We’ve got some mutual friends and Jason Parillo thinks the world of you as well. So congratulations in what you do.”

Bisping säger att han kan var anledningen till varför Rockhold inte fick respekt
Bisping berättar också att han kan mycket väl vara en anledning till varför Rockhold inte fått den respekt han förtjänar. En av sakerna kan var den populära kommentaren ”Conceive, Believe, Achieve” som fälldes under presskonferensen inför en av deras möte. Kommentaren har blivit en meme och då lite på just Rockholds bekostnad.

“And I know I didn’t help a lot of stuff with the ‘Conceive, believe, achieve’ thing and I kind of turned him into a little bit of a meme, but that’s what you do. When you’re fighting each other, you make fun of one another. Then obviously he was always ‘a little bit arrogant,’ but you need that. You have to be arrogant as a fighter.”

He pulled back the curtain, you got to see the real Luke, and he was very emotional, and rightly so.”
De båda kanske inte kommer fira jul tillsammans, men det är skönt att se att de verkar kunna lämna allt groll bakom sig nu när fighting-karriären är över för dem båda.
