Den tidigare boxningsmästaren Mike Tyson trodde först att Mayweather vs. McGregor skulle vara en style vs. style match där irländaren skulle få en chans att använda sina MMA-tekniker mot Floyd Mayweather. När han nu fått veta att det är en ren boxningsmatch ger han inte längre Conor McGregor några större chanser att segra.
Tyson uttalade sig med följande vid Podcasten ”Pardon My Take”:
McGregor is going to get killed boxing. I got mad because I thought they were going to use MMA rules against boxing because that’s what it’s all about: Can the boxer beat the MMA guy? McConor [sic] put his dumba*** in a position where he’s gonna get knocked out because this guy’s been doing this all his life since he was a baby. McConor [sic] can’t kick and grab and stuff so he won’t stand much of a chance.”
McGregor took the biggest sucker rules in the history of boxing.
Mike Tyson senaste citat om McGregor var att denne kommer att se ytterst fånig ut när han boxas mot Mayweather. Innan detta brukade han hylla McGregor. Detta uttalande gav han till ’FightersOnly’ förra året:
This guy, Conor, he’s the man. He reminds me of the old-time boxers, one of those guys that’s just into everything. He walks into the room and everybody stands up. He sucks the air out of the room.
He’s just a really interesting guy. He does things nobody else has been able to do, too. He’s kind of like an animated character, one that’s real though. He’s a great fighter, but his personality is even bigger than his talent.
