Nu i helgen ägde galan Bellator 216 rum och en av matcherna var ett returmöte mellan tungviktsveteranerna Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic och Roy Nelson. Första matchen mellan de två ägde rum i UFC för ungefär 8 år sedan och Nelson stod då som segrare via knockout i 3:e ronden. I helgens returmöte mellan de två stod istället “Cro Cop” som segrare via ett enhälligt domslut.
Efter matchen gav Filipovic ett uttalande om matchen och sin motståndare via facebook. Förutom att hylla sin motståndare och kalla honom en tuff fighter så hade Filipovic även en del annorlunda saker att dela med sig av om Nelson. Bland annat hävdade han att Nelson under matchen hade försökt bita hans finger. Enligt “Cro Cop” ska även Nelson ha hotat att dra vapen efter matchen, någonting som fick polis att eskortera ut Nelson ur arenan och undersöka hans omklädningsrum. Filipovic berättar även att han tackade ja till Nelsons förfrågan om ytterligare ett möte mellan de två tungviktarna.

You saw the fight and I wont say much about it. Nelson is a tough heavy weight for anyone . After the fight he made unnecessary ruckus , but it is what it is, he complained about anything and everything. He even reported me to the commission that my feet were slippery. So the Athletic commission followed me to my locker room and checked me out , even though from the moment I entered the arena till the end of the fight i was escorted by the representative of the Athletic commission everywhere, he would even follow me through the bathroom, and I was also checked out before I entered the ring, but one of them was laughing about it saying that Nelson is always like that before the fight stirring up things. On one occasion he praises us and on the other he calls us garbage. After all of that Nelson also threatened to bring out a weapon. I don’t know to who that was even directed at, but the cops came and they searched his room, There’s no messing with the cops here. After all of that he sent me a message and he congratulated me on the win and asked for a rematch and i told him ”Sure why not?” But that’s not up to me and I’m not sure about his status in Bellator after all of this. And just one more thing, during the match one of the most bizarre things in my career happened, during a clinch while I was holding him up to the fence, the dude starts biting my finger, the bite wasn’t as strong because it was done over a mouth guard. so it numbed the pain, but who would do something like that is beyond me.
Bellator 216 ägde rum den 16:e februari i Uncasville, USA. Huvudmatchen stod mellan Michael “Venom” Page och Paul Daley och slutade med en domslutsseger för Page.
