Officiellt: Ingen Khabib Nurmagomedov på UFC 249 – Kan inte lämna Ryssland

Den regerande mästaren i lättvikt, Khabib Nurmagomedov har hoppat av den tilltänkta UFC 249. Den ryske, obesegrade fightern kommer inte att kunna Ryssland.

Nurmagomedov som skulle ha mött amerikanen Tony Ferguson på galan, meddelade nyheten via sitt Instagramkonto under onsdagen. Mästaren meddelar att han är väldigt besviken över situationen, men att han inget kan göra åt omständigheterna. Samtidigt vill han att fansen ska ha lite perspektiv under denna pandemi som ödelagt större delen av världen.

Сверх державы и крупнейшие компании нашего времени в шоке от того, что происходит, каждый день ситуация меняется непредсказуемо. Но Хабиб все равно должен драться, так получается? – Берегите себя и поставьте себя на мое место.

Detta är den femte gången som en match mot Ferguson ställs in. De fyra tidigare gångerna har skador eller sjukdom legat bakom att matcherna inte blivit av.

UFC har ännu inte uttalat sig om Nurmagomedovs bortfall.
