Efter att ha besegrat Uriah Hall under UFC 226 så siktade mellanviktaren Paulo Costa högt då han utmanade den forne mellanviktsmästaren Chris Weidman. Nyligen utannonserade UFC dock att Costa istället kommer att möta Yoel Romero i sin nästa match. Sedan dess har det dock visat sig att Yoel Romero ännu inte accepterat matchen vilket nu Costa berättar, via MMAFighting, att han hoppas att Romero kommer att göra.
I’ve signed the contract, it’s on for me. He has his contract already, he’s just needs to get up the courage and sign it. But he will sign it. He doesn’t have anyone else to fight.
Costa berättar även att han är nöjd med matchningen då han ser Romero som ett sista steg på vägen mot en titelmatch.

Att Romero missat vikten i sina senaste matcher är inte någonting som oroar Costa då han berättar att han helst ser att Romero missar vikten. Detta då han ser det som ett sätt att utöka sin lön för matchen.
