Mellanviktaren Paulo Costa (12-0 MMA, 4-0 UFC) är på uppgång i UFC just efter sin seger mot Uriah Hall (13-9 MMA, 6-7 UFC) under UFC 226 och har berättat att han nu önskar att möta den forne mellanviktsmästaren Chris Weidman (14-3 MMA, 10-3 UFC). Det ser dock ut som att Costa kan få möta en annan prospekt, nämligen den obesegrade Israel Adesanya (14-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC).
Costa fick sin fjärde raka vinst i UFC när han segrade mot Hall via TKO i andra ronden. Innan detta segrade Adesanya mot Brad Tavares via ett enhälligt domslut under TUF 27 Finale.

The first time I heard his name was on Friday when he fought. People asked me about this fight, and I said I don’t know this guy. But if the people want this fight, let’s make this fight.
But my priority is Chris Weidman. He’s a former champion, he’s very famous in the world, and he’s higher ranked. But I’m a fighter, and the UFC decides. (UFC President) Dana White decides. I’m here to make the biggest and the greatest fights. So if he wants it and everybody wants it, I’ll fight Israel.
Enligt Adesanya vill UFC:s VD Dana White inte see honom möta Costa riktigt än. Costa känner att denna matchningen skulle bli enklare än ett möte med Weidman.
I think Israel is more easy to fight than Chris Weidman. like the hard fights. Israel, I saw some of his highlights yesterday, and I think he doesn’t have good grappling. He’s more of a standup fighter, so I think it’s easier than Chris Weidman.
