Den forne UFC-mästaren i mellanvikt Robert Whittaker (24-6) anser att han är en av de skickligaste fighters i världen men han kan inte ignorera att den nuvarande mästaren Israel Adesanya (23-1) är en usel matchning för honom.

Whittaker har 0-2 i record mot Adesanya och erkänner att han hatar tanken om en trilogimatch trots att han anser sig vara ”den farligaste mellanviktaren i världen” efter hans enhälliga domslutsseger mot Marvin Vettori vid UFC Paris.
Whittaker sade följande i Sirius XM efter att Anthony Smith kallat honom den skickligaste mellanviktaren i UFC:
I 100 percent agree with that- Let me just say thank you to Anthony Smith because that’s a big prop. I really, really appreciate that.
But definitely. I 100 percent wholeheartedly agree with it. That’s why I mention a lot of times I’m given the microphone, that’s why I’m the most dangerous Middleweight in the world for that reason [laughs]. Smith said it the best, he’s a terrible matchup for me and I hate that fight. It is annoying, a super annoying fight to go through, but I do truly believe I’m the best Middleweight in the world.

Kan flytta upp till lätt-tungvikt
Whittaker har tidigare hintat om en permanent flytt upp till lätt-tungvikt och han skulle vilja gå sin nästa match nästa år när UFC återvänder till Australien. Whittaker rankas precis efter Adesanya som den främste mellanviktaren i världen.
