UFC-presidenten Dana White gav nyligen en kommentar till den kommande tungviktsmatchen mellan de topprankade utövarna Ciryl Gane och Derrick Lewis
Dana White: Det blir mästare mot mästare därefter
I slutet av mars fick UFC en ny tungviktsmästare. Francis Ngannou besegrade den tidigare bälteshållaren Stipe Miocic, via slag i drabbningens andra rond. Enligt UFC var den nykrönta tungviktskungen inte redo att återvända till buren under sommaren och därför valde organisationen att anordna ett interimmöte för bältet. Den obesegrade Gane kommer ta sig an amerikanen Lewis. De båda kommer drabba samman under UFC 265.
Det ovanstående valet kritiserades hårt av Ngannous team, men UFC-presidenten tog kritiken med ro. Under en intervju med MMA Junkie berättade White att matchen var ett logiskt beslut för organisationen att ta. White hävdade även att Gane och Lewis är världens bästa tungviktare, om man bortser från Ngannou.

Vidare berättade White att Ngannous första titelförsvar nu kommer bli ännu större, när 34-åringen väl väljer att återvända till buren.
If anything, this will make the title fight even bigger when these guys fight. It’ll be champion vs. champion and if Derrick Lewis wins, Derrick Lewis is the guy who beat him. Ciryl Gane has never fought him, and he’s undefeated, which means if he beats Derrick Lewis, the guy who beat Francis Ngannou, and he’s still undefeated going in against Francis Ngannou, that’s pretty f*cking exciting.
UFC 265 kommer äga rum natten till den 8 augusti, svensk tid. Eventet kommer äga rum på Toyota Center i Houston, Texas. Vilket innebär att det kommer bli hemmaplan för Lewis.
