Josefine ”Thunder” Lindgren Knutsson hade en lyckad kväll inne i buren på Apex-anläggningen i Las Vegas. Något kontrakt med UFC blev det dock inte.

”Thunder” byggde under natten på sitt obesegrade matchfacit men sin sjätte raka vinst som proffsfighter. Hon ställdes mot Nederländernas Isis Verbeek (4-2-0) och tog hem segern via enhälligt domslut. Trots en dominant vinst blev det inget UFC-kontrakt för svenskan. 27-åringen är än så länge den enda vinnaren under årets säsong som inte har tilldelats ett kontrakt med organisationen.
White beskrev henne som en supertalang, men att han inte imponerades av nattens insats. UFC-presidenten uppmanade Lindgren Knutsson att gå hårdare för avslut i framtiden och att hon behöver gå fler MMA-matcher innan ett kontrakt med UFC kan bli aktuellt.

Andreas Michael – ”Visa stöd och sluta hata”
Lindgren Knutsson har inte uttalat sig om segern och UFC-presidentens beslut i skrivandes stund. Det har däremot Andreas Michael, huvudtränare på Allstars Training Center, gjort. Michael berättade att ”Thunder” tagit den hårda vägen genom att möta topprankade kvinnor på sin väg mot UFC. Han berättade även att teamet kommer jobba vidare och att målet inte är ett UFC-kontrakt, utan ett bälte.

We were underdogs as usual, the skill set of the fight from striking to clinch to kicks punchs knees pressure on the cage, tempo cardio, flying knees, spinning back Fist and elbows, take downs, round house kicks, ground and pound, cage work pressure, dirty Boxing…………. Josefine rocked her oponent several Times. Two fights in a row we beat the best prospects in the world. We choose to not just build a record but solidate it.
Josefine is acceptional she pushed the tempo , two gladiators with the nights best skills in My opinion from both girls. Not just a mindless brawl that makes the toughest man win but zero future. A fight that was brutal but skillful! We can always do more absolutely and we Will. Alot of things to get better at. But just keep stacking them up and we gonna keep knocking Them down.

She really is taking the tough road with top top oponents.God has a plan and we are greatful for everything. We didnt get the contract. But dana Thank you for the oportunity this will make us better and we just have to work harder!

Tre svenska fighters har nu tävlat i Dana White’s Contender Series. Herdem Alacabek, Anton Turkalj och ovannämnda ”Thunder”. Alacabek förlorade sin fight och Turkalj tog hem segern i sin. Något UFC-kontrakt blev det dock inte vid det tillfället. Turkalj hoppade därefter in i UFC med kort notis som ersättare åt en annan fighter. Han har gått 0-2-0 i organisationen.
