Bryce Mitchell anser sig vara två stora vinster ifrån titelmatch
Sist vi kunde se Bryce Mitchell (14-0) i oktagonen var under oktober förra året då han tog hem en enhällig domslutsvinst över Andre Fili (21-8-1-1). Sedan dess har han spenderat tid borta från MMA då han återhämtat sig från skador. Inför en återkomst till sporten så menar dock Mitchell att han anser sig vara två bra vinster ifrån en titelmatch i UFCs fjädervikt.
Varit borta för att läka
Det var under en intervju med Ariel Helwani under “The MMA Hour” som Mitchell berättade om den långa läkeprocess han gick igenom med sin hand samt att han nu är tillbaka till normalt.
For about four months I couldn’t even carry in groceries with my left hand, because it was still rehabbing and everything. I was training with one hand, but it’s not the same obviously. So I had to heal that hand up, and then it took quite a bit of months after that before I could start using the hand, get my full grip back, and then I’m comfortable hitting with it. But everything seems to be back to normal now, so I’m not really worried about it at all.
Behöver bara två stora vinster
När han nu väl är påväg tillbaka så menar Mitchell att han enbart behöver två stora vinster till för att förtjäna en titelmatch men han menar att det behöver vara just stora vinster.
Give me the title shot, two big wins. Now they can’t be shitty wins. It’s two big wins. I think that I can beat everybody and I want a title shot. And I’m ready to earn it. I’m ready to earn it. If they don’t think I deserve it, that’s fine, but give me whoever they’ve got to get to get me to the title. I could win it right now. There’s no sense in waiting. I can do it right now.
Svårt att hitta plats och datum för match
En av anledningarna till att det tagit tid för Mitchell att komma tillbaka till oktagonen är att en motståndare som verbalt accepterat en match men att matchen fortsatt flyttats framåt då UFCs planerade galor den närmaste tiden har varit fulla av matcher.
They were trying to find me an opponent. And then they kind of did, and that kept getting pushed back because they already had the dates that they wanted filled up. So it’s just taken a little while, but I’ve been told I can’t say anything because all I’ve done is verbally agree. And I can tell you that — I’ve verbally agreed and it’s coming up soon if they verbally agree, but I don’t know if they have. I don’t even know if the dude’s healthy or not. I don’t know anything about what’s going on on the opponent’s end, but I verbally agreed and they’re going to find me something here soon and they’re working with me, so I appreciate it. I’m not trying to rush them.
Huruvida Mitchell får sina två stora vinster och därefter en titelmatch eller inte återstår ännu att se.
