UFC:s VD Dana White är mycket skeptiskt till att Georges St-Pierre kommer att göra någon comeback inom UFC, eftersom han tror att den före detta welterviktsmästaren inte vill det tillräckligt mycket.
Det här berättar White via ”Los Angeles Times”:
I highly doubt it’s going to happen because GSP’s been off for too long and has a ton of money. You don’t do a six-week camp to learn if you have the hunger. You either know it or not. [UFC welterweight champ] Robbie Lawler knows it, he’s hungry, he trains like an animal.
You’re either hungry and an animal or you’re not.
Detta har aldrig tidigare varit ett problem för St-Pierre. Han är nu 34 år gammal och senaste försvarade han bältet mot Johnny Hendricks 2013. Han har aldrig direkt pratat om att gå i pension och tidgare den här månade berättade Freddie Forach att St-Pierre skulle genomgå ett 6 veckor lång träningsläger för att se om han vill komma tillbaka till UFC.
Det här berättade Roach, via LA Times:
We’re going to train every day like we’re having a fight, and at the end of the six weeks, if he feels he has the desire to go on with it — if he wants to fight — then we will fight again. If he doesn’t, we’ll call it quits.
När St-Pierre var på topp var han en utav UFC’s största publikmagneter. White vill dock inte hoppas på för mycket och tror inte att St-Pierre har samma driv som han hade tidigare.
It’d be great if he comes back, yes, I love Georges St-Pierre — amazing athlete — but comeback talk? I laugh at it. To be a world champion, you have to be hungry.
That’s not GSP. Not even close.
