Nyligen gick welterviktaren Leon Edwards ut med att rivalen Jorge Masvidal inte har accepterat någon av de erbjudanden han fått om att möta honom och att han därmed inte vill ha matchen. Detta gick Masvidals manager, Ibrahim Kawa, ut och bemötte med att Masvidal aldrig fått något erbjudande om att möta Edwards. Nu har även Masvidal själv bemött påståendet.
Det var under en mediaträff i samband med helgens UFC Uruguay som Masvidal berättade att en match mot Edwards kan komma att hända men på Masvidals egna villkor. I nuläget är han dock framförallt intresserad av att ta bältet i viktklassen.

Masvidal fortsatte med att poängtera att han anser att Edwards är överskattad och att han kommer att göra samma sak som han gjorde mot Ben Askren för att få omvärlden att säga detsamma om Edwards.
Everyone was saying Ben Askren was an amazing fighter before I fought him with all this grappling stuff. But after I five-seconded his ass, now they’re saying he’s overrated. I’m going to beat Leon Edwards so bad, they’re going to say the same shit about him. They’re going to say he’s overrated. There’s not one bone in my body that is not agreeing with what I’m saying. I’m going to murder that guy when we fight. He’s a scrub. You are a scrub, Leon, and you fucking know it. The fight will take place when I say so.
