UFC:s VD Dana White berättade under gårdagen att det kan bli aktuellt med en returmatch för lättviktsmästaren Khabib Nurmagomedov och forne dubbelmästaren Conor McGregor. Han menar att det kan bli av redan efter mötet mellan Khabib och Dustin Poirier under UFC 242 i september.
Den före detta WSOF-mästaren Justin Gaethje känner att den irländske fightern inte överhuvudtaget ska vara i närheten av en titelmatch efter sin senaste förlust mot Khabib under UFC 229 – såvida han inte slår en topprankad fighter först.

Gaethje gick ut med ett skarpt meddelande till McGregor på Twitter, efter att irländaren berättat att han är intresserad av att gå en till match i boxning.

Det är inte först gången Gaethje har utmanat McGregor. Nyligen deltog han i en intervju med ESPN, där han hade följande att säga:
I’m ranked No. 5 right now. There are four guys and the champion in front of me. I’m looking for one of those guys, and I’m looking for a big fight this summer. I don’t want to fight guys ranked behind me. I’ve got two knockouts in a row. James Vick was ranked behind me.
I feel I deserve someone in front of me… Looking at the landscape, Conor McGregor is No. 3 right now. If it’s not him, there’s not an open fight right now. So, that’s the fight I want. He’s No. 3. If he’s not going to fight, take him out of the rankings. I’d be cool with that, too, and we can move on from there.
Gaethje mötte senast Edson Barboza under UFC on ESPN 2, där han segrade via knockout i första ronden. Detta blev hans andra raka seger via knockout och han har ett sammanlagt record på 20-2.
