Den kroatiska tungviktsveteranen Mirko Cro Cop ställer sig kritisk till termen “GOAT” som enligt honom är meningslös.
Under förra året valde den kroatiska tungviktslegenden inom kickboxning och MMA, Mirko ”Cro Cop” Filipovic, att gå i pension. Nu ställer han sig kritisk till termen “GOAT”, som står för Greatest Of All Time, då han menar att ingen kan vara bäst genom tiderna då det kommer att komma nya fighters som kan vara bättre.
”GOAT Existerar inte”
Det var i en intervju med kroatiska “Index Video” som Cro Cop påstår att det är fel att kalla någon bäst genom tiderna när det senare kan komma någon som är bättre. Han tar exemplet med Fedor Emelianenko, som av vissa ansågs som bäst och hur den nuvarande tungviktsmästaren i UFC, Stipe Miocic, även han av vissa anses som bäst.
GOAT does not exist. Every era has its own greatest fighter. Stipe is now the greatest fighter and it used to be Fedor. Fedor today is not even a shadow of the Fedor that once performed, it cannot be compared. What does GOAT mean, it means of all time, it means no one can be after him, we can’t say of all time. If Fedor is declared GOAT, the best of all time, how then can someone come and be declared GOAT after or after Stipe if he is declared.
Går inte att jämföra
Cro Cop fortsätter med att det inte går att jämföra fighters från olika tidsperioder och lyfter Francis Ngannou som en fighter som kan komma att kallas GOAT i framtiden.
It cannot be compared. I performed side by side with Fedor, he was a better and more complete fighter than me. After all, we had a match and he beat me, he was the best. Today it’s Stipe. This Ngannou is a terrific fighter, if he beats Stipe by a knock out, he won against Cain, JDS, Blaydes, Rozenstruik in less then 3 minutes.. then there will be talk again about who is the best. GOAT is a story undermined by journalists and fans, but it doesn’t exist. GOAT does not exist. Then we have GOAT in every category, pound for pound etc. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Maybe you should compare the number of matches, the length of the career, various way of finishes, Fedor finished it with right cross, rear naked choke, guillotine, arm bar, kimura, in a large number of ways he ended. But it’s immeasurable, it’s the same as for the miss world, three of them come to the finals and you can’t decide.
Sist vi kunde se Cro Cop tävla var då han besegrade Roy Nelson under Bellator 216 via ett enhälligt domslut under 2019.
